Another city network selects Waystream for continued roll-out

A city network operator in southeastern Sweden has chosen Waystream's MS7000 switch for its continued expansion and upgrading of the city network. The first order, there are about 5500 connections to be built with Waystream's new access switch.

The deal is handled by Waystream's Swedish partner Cygate and comes after a careful evaluation of suppliers by the operator. The choice fell on the MS7000 from Waystream. With the MS7000, the operator gets an access-switch that meets tough demands for function and capacity.  As part of the evaluation the operator has conducted tests in both lab environment and in the field. That Waystreams continues to develop its products with new functionality such as telemetry helped the operator to choose Waystream.

The MS7000 is available in models with 24 and 48 ports for customer connections of up to 1Gbit/s speed over fiber. The platform is a hybrid architecture, which means that there is a powerful processor for additional functions that can be used for example to monitor the quality of services. This gives operators a better insight into the user experience and means that issues can be addressed proactively to prevent disruptions in network and services.

The operator runs an open access city network that connects business and residental customers in several municipalities in southeastern Sweden. The network has over 30,000 connections. The MS7000 will be used for expansion of the network and also to upgrade existing connections.
