Waystream gets repeat order from Fibia Danmark

Waystream, who develops and sells access equipment to fiber-based broadband networks, has received yet another order from Fibia Danmark via our partner Conscia A/S. Fibia Danmark is Denmark’s largest fiber coalition and the organization can reach over 200,000 homes and businesses. The size of the new order is approximately 1 million SEK.

The access equipment purchased by Fibia includes ASR6000 routers and other products that will be used in the rollout of new subscriber networks. Fibia has today approximately 70,000 active customers, mainly in the regions of Sjælland and Eastern Jylland.

Fiber networking is the fastest growing broadband technology in Denmark and during 2014 the total number of broadband subscribers using fiber technology has risen by 18.7% nationwide. As a result, there were 399,000 fiber network subscribers in Denmark by the end of 2014. [1]

“Fibia is a large customer for us and we are naturally very pleased to have their continuing confidence in us to deliver equipment to their networks. Fibia is an excellent example that shows how a power utility company can become a strong, competitive player in the broadband industry,” says Johnny Hedlund, CEO of Waystream.

In the coming years, the market for fiber is expected to double in Europe which means that the 31 million connections achieved in 2014 is predicted to reach 62 million in the next four years. This translates to 20% of European homes being connected to fiber networks (FTTH/FTTB) by 2019. [2]
