Stadsnätet i Sandviken new customer for Waystream

The city network in Sandviken, owned by Sandviken Energi AB, has signed an agreement with Waystream's partner Cygate for the delivery of many access switches to optimize traffic in its city network.

Sandviken was an early adapter of super-fast, well-functioning broadband, affordable telephony, and all the world's television via fiber optics. They understood that it´s an important factor in creating added value for the municipality's residents and in being attractive for business start-ups. Prior to the change of supplier, they wanted an easy-to-handle IT structure with hardware and software that could meet their needs for functions that monitor and operate the network as well as seamless integration with the selected software. With Waystream's 48-port access switches, they have the optimal equipment for their needs.

“We have up to 800 customers per site, so for us it was a requirement that the switches have 48 ports. When we evaluated different suppliers, the choice fell on Waystream's equipment. We really like the trouble shooting part with troubleshooting and monitoring, which sends packets of information directly to the technician's computer. The solution is also scalable and is therefore easy to expand. Redundancy is also a big advantage, as is the switches' fast restart time. After a minute they are up and running again. Waystream's access products are clearly affordable, and we plan to increase the number of Waystream switches in 2022”, says Henrik Westlund, Team leader Sandviken Energi AB, Stadsnät.

“Our customers are usually innovative city networks that strive to optimize traffic in their fiber-optic networks. I am pleased that we continue to be a premium supplier to the Swedish city networks and welcome the city network in Sandviken as a new customer,” says Fredrik Lundberg, CEO of Waystream.

The deal was closed via Waystream's partner Cygate, which won the supplier agreement:

"We are very happy to have received the trust from the city network in Sandviken, which now chooses to build with Waystream in its city network," says Per Gustavsson, Account Manager at Cygate AB.
